I've been writing my tail off the past month. Here are the sections that have been (nearly) completed: Engineer character class, with dozens and dozens of gadgets! Huckster character class. Yep, it had to be done. Strange science devices, over 200! It was crazy. I realized they basically take the place of magic items in your typical fantasy RPG. On the Arizona Hills and maps. This was the whole point of writing Gunslinger in the first place. I have this entire section of the adventure blocked out and mostly written.

Great series of books. Just ordered Red Planet and Raiders! I think if the characters from Gunslinger, when it's done, and Raiders you would have a fairly complete class selection for a good Pulp era world sandbox (as the timeline for the end old west era and 1930s pulp era overlap a bit at the end of the old west) with one class exception a reporter/journalist. It would play well in the old west with the reports covering the famous old west gunslingers and robberies and very well in the 1930s, especially with the publication rules in Raiders. Any chance of a reporter/journalist class is in the works? Great work

One that is really unique and a bit far out there, but a reporter class would be a perfect class for. For Gunslinger perhaps a Muckraker?

Yeah a muckraker and depending on whatever background you choose, There could be skills (if you go with the skills variants) to suit the situation. Looking forward to seeing something like that in the game.

I hope you don't mind my sharing, but I found a blogger who wrote some additional classes for Raiders that ended up making the game have a more generalized pulp feel. One of the classes is an Explorer. It is similar to the Archeologist, but the Explorer is looking for mysterious places, civilizations, or undiscovered animals and such. Other classes a Pilot, Investigator, Heavy, Spy, and Martial Artist. It's a pretty good effort. This was the link: theosrlibrary.blogspot.comI just had a look at the draft of Gunslinger as a Kickstarter backer, and I think the description of the classes with room for pictures to come, and description of the rules is really up there (and perhaps surpasses) what other Night Owl Games offer. It's looking really great. The number of Appendixes is really fun and all of the great maps for the adventures! I thought the notable personalities section is a great start - the ER Burroughs addition made me laugh, but could be beefed up more. Personally I would love to see you add all of the following who have Arizona connections: (I might be going a little broad for some as the game focuses on a certain area of Arizona - but I imagined these Lawmen and Outlaws - both men and women, and "resistance fighters" Apache - as being on the move and maybe crossing the entire Arizona territory - and at some point entering the area the game is set in) Pearl and Joe - Pearl Heart, Joe Boot The Earp Brothers - Wyatt Earp, Virgin Earp, Morgan Earp Doc Holliday Crawley P. Drake The Cowboys (O.K. Corral at Tombstone) - Billy Clanton, Frank and Tom McLaury, and Billy Claiborne Katherine Haroney “Big Nose Kate” Jim Roberts Buckley O'Neill John Slaughter Augustine Chacon Bill Smith Billy the Kid Lozen (Nde) - You really should include her!

I also wanted to add that the Saloon Girl is a notorious archetype that depending on the story could be sort of the Western princess archetype. A cowgirl disguised as a saloon girl, a saloon girl who is a master con man (Huckster). Perhaps a Saloon girl as a Western Princess type of class? Well, just a thought!

If you ever add in the Miner class, you will surely need to add dynamite to your list of equipment / weapons.

I considered adding some of those NPC's, famous for OK Corral. But Tombstone deserves its own setting book. You're right about Lozen, she definitely needs to be in there.

Will you be doing an Old School size of this through Drivethru like Raiders and Red Planet?

Will you be doing an Old School size of this through Drivethru like Raiders and Red Planet? Currently my focus is getting the Gunslinger Core Rules book done. It is a refined game system I have been thinking about (and playing) a lot for quite some time. It is an effort to pull in some of my favorite elements from various editions into an OSR style rules set. I do have more plans for the Gunslinger line and digest sized books are part of that plan.

Big update coming. Topics will be about the minor delay and why that's a good thing. Layout, art, and more content.

Breaking radio silence here for an update on Gunslinger. The silence wasn't intentional, it is just that I had my head down working hard on the book and lost track of time. At this point we are about 2 weeks past the date I wanted to send the files to the printer. After reviewing the latest physical proof I felt there were still a few things that needed more work. There were 3 main areas I wanted to improve. LayoutThe book looked good on screen, but it didn't look as good printed out on physical copies. One bit of a surprise is that the font size was too large. I wanted the book to be easy to read and reference, especially during play, but the font size seemed a little too much like padding. So it was reduced by 1 point. This affected the layout on all the pages, and so that all had to be reworked. The gaps it left were filled with more art. ArtStill the largest hold up is completing all the art. This is developing into a well illustrated book full of high quality art. It is a truism that Quantity + Quality takes time. I could have rushed it to meet a deadline, but I wanted to do a better job with the art and also draw more creatures. CreaturesThe writing is nearing completion. I keep thinking it is essentially done, but the Creatures section seemed a bit too thin. The original idea was to make Gunslinger very realistic and it didn't include many fantastic creatures. This left the encounters chapter lacking in excitement, so this section was revisited and greatly expanded. If a Referee wants to run a gritty realistic campaign they can use just the normal animals, if they want to spice things up with a little more of the fantastic that is now included as well. I should also mention that there are some other little details, such as drawing more maps, fleshing out the random tables, and adding more adventure hooks. But these aren't as major or time consuming as the 3 main things mentioned above. I'm aiming to have this ready early next week, and of course every Kickstarter Backer will be getting their updated PDF as soon as possible.
