Ho does knight hawks compare to the rule for airships in Red Planet and wooden ships in Freebooters?
Are they the same basic rules sets with just period flare on top? The reason I am asking is that I was wondering if the rules I have for airships in Red Planet could be expanded using Freebooters or knight hawks. Does knight hawks have large scale battles and rules for map or miniature play? What about Freebooters? Should I just stick with the rules I have or invest in either if these two for more depth to the airships combat?
Thanks.

They are essentially the same rules, compatible with each other. Colonial Troopers had quite a role-playing focused ship combat system, and there were some players that wanted something a little more crunchy. So we made Knight Hawks and rewrote the Warriors of the Red Planet ship combat rules in a Colonial Troopers flavor because we wanted the systems to be cross-compatible. They'd even work with Freebooters, or if you wanted aerial biplane dogfights in Raiders.
